I wrote a song called "Redeemed" for this compilation. Kim Meppham sang it; I've always
loved her voice.
Uh, the song is written about an idea that's called substitutionary sacrifice, and what
that is just about how God sees us in light of the work of Jesus on the cross.
He looks at us and sees Jesus, He looks at the cross and sees us hanging there, and through
that work of Jesus Christ we are redeemed and being redeemed means being brought back
into the right relationship that we have uh, either walked away from or allowed ourselves
to be pulled away from.
The end of the song kind of changes and so often throughout scripture you find very expressive
um, examples of worship. I think of King David in second Samuel where he's dancing crazily
before God and so often, uh, I think that our expressiveness in worship doesn't match
the work of Christ on the cross and what He's done for us, and so the second half of the
song just gets into us really trying to express our gratitude and understanding of the work
that has happened for us and uh, so that's what this song is about.
