New details tonight on a lawsuit against Owen's Community College we first told
you last week that a group of nursing students claims that Owens misled them because
they didn't tell them right away when it lost accreditation for its nursing
program, this was in july and now we've learned that lawyers want to make
this a class action lawsuit, that would include all students in the nursing
program adversely impacted by the lost accreditation.
If the students tried to go to another program
and start all over again, their student loans are immediately payable so they're
in a catch-twenty two situation. If they finish the program they get a degree
without accreditation which makes the job market extremely difficult, if
they leave the program, the student loans are immediately due. The lawyer says
this affects more than four hundred sixty nursing students.
