Guest speaker Jim Wood, Florida Office of Greenways and Trail: The trails world is in popular demand.
There's a lot of public demand.
These projects are really good for the economy.
I think it's very appropriate that stimulus money
was put into this trail because these projects could bring a lot
back into the economy. Our projects alone at Greenway and the State trails
bring in about $95 million a year.
Jim Schmid, U.S. Forest Service Trails Manager: Twenty years that Munson trail has been used and loved
and taken care of by mountain bikers. And, to have the opportunity
this past year to do a little bit of house upkeep . . .
you know a little bit of fine tuning. Couldn't pass that up.
And, the support we had from the community doing that was very wonderful
and also the support from the State to finally tie in
to a restroom,
a bike wash station,
we also tie in to the county park as you know.
So we have 21, 22 miles of trail out here. And I would hope we could add a little bit more.
Many of you have been ridin' it for a long time.
And what I'm looking forward to is you know, this trail is very nightime rider friendly.
And that's for a reason. Summer's coming.
So we will be doing some more night rides. The club does their Munson Mondays,
and I believe the time trials are still going Scott.
Schimd: Alright! (applause)
Riders up! (call out from bike ride organizer)
