Dàjāhǎo, it's Maggie! Are you excited to start the next section? I hope so! So, so
far you guys have been working with that email to Marco from Sun Tao, and that has been awesome
to get some basic Chinese phrases down. But now is where we're going to get into the meaty
dialogues. So now we're going to learn about Marco is in the car with his host family on
the way to their house. So I first went to China when I had been studying Chinese for
2 years, and it was the summer of my junior year, so I was going into my junior year of
high school. And I went with a program that was with other high school kids from the US,
and we spent 2 weeks in the dorms, learning Chinese in classes, and then we spent 2 weeks
with a host family. And I was super nervous to meet my host family, because I had never
been this far away from home, or this long, and just super nervous to do something new,
and they all spoke Chinese, they didn't speak any English. But it was totally fine, the
mom was super sweet and the dad was so helpful, and they even had a daughter who was a year
older than me, so it worked out perfectly. But nevertheless, super scary, because it's
something so new. But it was totally worth it. So in this section, Marco meets his host
family and they are talking on their way back to their house. So you guys are going to learn
some really great vocab and key grammar points, and these are used almost every time you speak
Chinese, so it's super worth it to just get down to business and just get it learned,
because again you'll be using it whenever you speak Chinese. So, let's get started!
