How's it going guys, SceptileSlash here bringing you another Super Set. In this edition, I'm
moving up a tier to UU, my favourite one to play in. This set features one of the top
threats in this tier, Crobat. Usually you'll see Crobat breaking walls with Taunt or smashing
stuff with its powerful Brave Birds, but this set opens up an entirely new niche that Crobat
can work with. As you can see, this makes use of Crobat's little known access to Nasty
Plot.
With a mediocre base 70 special attack stat, Crobat may seem a little iffy on the special
side, but it does get that nice boosting move so it can hit hard after +2. This set also
features an item you hardly ever see on Crobat, but is essential to this set is the Life Orb.
With Crobat's amazing speed and good defenses, it has no trouble getting up a Nasty Plot
on the switch or after taking an attack and hitting hard with one of its many good coverage
moves including a couple of very good STAB attacks.
The EV spread on this set is pretty simple. Max special attack and speed allows it to
hit hard and hit first before anything else in the tier barring scarf users. The 4 special
defense EV's make sure that Porygon2 and Porygon-Z don't get the special attack boost from Download
so you can easily switch something else in to take anything it wants to go for with relative
ease.
Air Slash is Crobat's most reliable STAB move which also carries the 30% chance to flinch;
a nice touch for annoying your opponents. Heat Wave is there so Crobat isn't walled
by Bronzong or Registeel and it also gives it a way to catch Weavile by suprise after
Ice Shard or Night Slash doesn't kill. Dark Pulse sports a nifty 44% chance to OHKO after
a boost on Cofagrigus which is a common switch in to Crobat because it can usually tank a
Brave Bird and burn it next turn, however you will be safe since special Crobat doesn't
care about getting burnt.
Other options for Crobat include Sludge Bomb if you want duel STAB, but keep in mind that
Poison isn't the best offensive type, and your coverage on Grass-types will be very
redundant. You would also be giving up the nice coverage that Dark Pulse gives you since
Crobat needs Heat Wave for Steel-types. Giga Drain hits bulky Water-types like Suicune
and Milotic quite hard after a boost if your team doesn't really care about Ghost-types,
and Sleep Talk is there since Crobat likes to switch into Roserade who usually carries
Sleep Powder. Finally, Hidden Power Fighting can be used as a less powerful version of
Heat Wave that also hits Rock-types, but Bronzong will partially wall Crobat if this is used
as you'll have nothing get a super-effective hit on it.
As for the ability you use, if you'll just be laddering with Crobat, Inner Focus is the
better one to use as people on the ladder still use Ambipom and Fake Out on Mienshao.
However, for tournament matches where you'll never see a flinching move other than Air
Slash, Infiltrator is nice for teams that have dual screens.
And so, that's it for this edition of my Super Sets, don't forget to rate, comment and sub
to my channel, because I will have a lot more great sets like this one coming your way.
I want to start including some Showdown footage in my videos soon, so if you would like to
face up to some of the sets I made, be sure to leave me a comment or a PM and I'll se
what I can do. Also, if there is a pokemon you'd like to see in one of my future videos,
I'd be happy to make sure you guys get what you want by making a set for said pokemon,
so until next time, take it easy guys.
