So, it's snowing as I'm recording this, and I'm wearing pajamas, so it seems only fitting.
My name is Alexandria, it is January 3, 2016, and this is my self image for the new year.
I am the daughter of a fire sign mother and a water sign father. I am a Gemini sun and
a Scorpio moon, so enjoy analyzing that because I do. And I am certainly glad that zodiac
signs were a trending topic of 2015, because I enjoyed delving deep into them for most
of my childhood. I am a granddaughter to three, a friend to
many, and my two best friends in the whole world are both fire signs, so that's just
kind of my luck. Sunrises are my favorite thing in the world
to experience, and I've had the pleasure of being awake to experience them for most of
my adult life. I have a body that houses an abundance of
stretch marks, and surgery scars, freckles, freckle patches, redness, and hair, dimples,
cellulite, some tattoos, and an abundance of chronic pain that I am working everyday
to find pride and love in. I am an individual with disabilities; I have
anxiety; I have Trichotillomania; I wear three bracelets that bring me good luck.
I have difficulty looking into the mirror some days, but I am working on it.
I am a passionate lover of podcasts and audiobooks. I am perpetually multitasking.
I am working on accepting my fears of silence, small spaces, and imperfection.
I am a soon-to-be graduate of university come June.
I am an educator. I am indefinitely learning, and loving every minute of it, hashtag #ProudRavenclaw.
I am holding myself accountable to being my truest self: to more imperfect singing and
dancing in the new year; to no white lies just to other people comfortable; to no more
artificiality at the sake of my happiness and growth.
2016 is the year of my state of grace, since it was the first song that I listened to driving
home from the Champagne Ball that I spent with one of my best friends on New Year's
Eve, and "State of Grace" is my Team 2016 motto.
My name is Alexandria, and this is my year to shine.
(Others) Seven, six, five, four, three, two, one. (Balloons pop) Happy New Year! Woo!
(Emily off camera) How you doing?
