The open day is an absolutely fantastic chance for anybody
wanting to go to a university to come and find out
Here at our University of Cumbria open day, we've got all our facilities on show
People can see the accommodation
people can go on a campus tour
you can speak to members of the Students' Union
You can see the lovely campus
and where you would be living and studying
You can speak to the admissions team and find out more information about the admissions process.
You can speak to our student ambassadors and find out what is really like
to study here and what a great place it is for our students.
You can speak to representatives of academic staff and find out more about
your course of interest
and whether it meets the course for you.
You can speak to members of the finance team
from our learning and information support services
You can go on a llibrary tour and find out more about the library facilities
and really find out whether this is a place that they would want to spend
three or four years of their life studying
They get a welcome talk in the morning after they register
with a member of the senior management team at the university
so, at Lancaster today, it was Dr Robin Talbot
who's the executive dean of the faculty of health and wellbeing
After the welcome talk they will go to a subject specific talk
which is what they want to do, or what course they want to go to at university
After an open day, students can then think
about whether it's place that they would want to apply to
and feed that into their UCAS process. We recommend, when students are thinking of applying
to any university, and particularly us, that they come and see and open day
because it's a chance to find out whether it's a place you're going to be happy
and it's a course that you want to do as well
so what we recommend after the open day is that a student would
feed that into their UCAS form and hopefully make one of our courses their selection
After the open day, if they've got any more queries, then again
they can contact us and we can help with answers.
I've really enjoyed the open day because it's helped me
with my decision for Primary Education with Advanced Specialism
and it's been helpful with everything.
They've given us a lot of information
It seems very nice and it seems very small and it's like community, more like -
it's more like a family compared to other ones we've seen.
