If you just show up and do the work, what you need
will come to you. And that has been my experience. I mean, it's like things come
to me
from places that I can't even imagine. I developed a website,
last fall was contacted by someone from New Haven, Connecticut of
all places. And he onwed a gallery. He's an artist
and he said, "Do you ever give classes?" And I said, "Well, no."
I mean, I do, but I'm in Northern California. And I said you know I can
give you some contacts in the northeast. And he said, "Well no, it's
your work that I like. Would you be interested in having a show back here?"
And it's just been this rich experience. I mean,
I sold a lot of work. I've been back there. So again, it came out of the blue.
This was by my great mentor, Mark Perlman, because again the kids said...
I shouldn't say kids, all of us as art students, about being famous.
And he said his philosophy was
don't get too high, don't get too low,
just keep working because the good things are going to come and you're gonna
enjoy that.
The not so good things are going to come too, but don't get attached to it.
So just just keep working, just keep showing up.
