We are celebrating Nano Days, it's a nationwide celebration of nanoscale
science and engineering.
A nano meter is that billionth of a meter, so its a particle so small you can't
even see it. The kids here today are learning about how we use nanoscale
science and engineering in healthcare, technology, and lots of other fields. Im
Tricia and I go to Irving School, out of balloons were making
like a carbon tube.
It's a thing out of carbon and
it's really strong, its actually stronger than steel and it has a lot of
electricity in it.
The kids here today are from Irving Elementary School, from Whittier
Elementary School, and from Headwaters Academy. My name is Sean Timmons
im in 5th
grade and I go to Irving School,
now im in a bunny suit and its cool.
If you shine a white through the different colors of liquids it kind makes it a different color.
Sometimes it's orange and pink and then it shows up differently through the paper.
And then your gonna take one spec
of this stuff
and see how many times
you can pull it apart.
Its a circuit so you can see if it'll conduct electricity.
One of the reasons that
MSU likes to be involved in Nano Days is because it's great to work
with young people and get them excited about science and engineering.
These kids are at the great age when
they really are impressionable about what they might want to do when they grow up
and it's wonderful for us to show them all that's possible.
