Hi my name is Sinead Doyle. I'm a fashion designer, and I'm here today with Fashion
One to tell you about my new collection. My autumn/winter collection is really exciting
because it's the first time I've actually had my collection made in Italy by this little
artisan family-run atelier. It's amazing. It's all luxury cottons, wools, really gorgeous
really soft cashmere. These are some of the pieces here beside me. It's a cotton shirt
and the biker jacket from the new collection. It's very very tailored. It's aimed at a woman,
not a girl. And cut to fit a female body, which is my real selling point, and I'm really
proud of it.
Well I used to work in Italy. I worked in an atelier in Venice and we did costumes and
things for carnival, but also couture finishing on items and I love Italy. I love Italian
the language, I love the food. Everything. and I just really wanted to work closer with
Italy and I couldn't get all the manufacturing I wanted in Ireland so Italy was a normal
next choice for me.
I think one of the main features of this jacket is, I was able to be a little more detailed
with the finish for this collection, because someone else was making a lot of it, which
was nice, so we've got a lot of pocket detail, zips, practical items. I really like the mix
of fabrics in this, the leather, the wool, and then we've got 100% silk lining, and when
I was speaking about a fit for a woman you'll see in the shirt, the bust has an unusual
cut to it and that means your shirt is not going to pop open. The fabrics - I've gone
very much high end, in really beautiful cashmeres especially. I really love the feel of this
fabric. I wish I could get it across on camera, you know, something three dimensional. And
I decided that if I was getting very excellent manufacturing that I would go really really
high end with the fabric and make this a super luxury collection. I would never invest in
clothes that are a passing fad. I just don't do it. I always buy classic clothes and I
think it makes a lot of sense. It's all about fit and shape, rather than what's the current
trend, what can I get, a full outfit, for €20.
One of my favorite pieces is this coat. The Catherine Coat. It's patent leather with a
really soft cashmere. Silk-lined. I think it's a really stand out coat, and it's a really
flattering shape on a woman. Tailoring is one of the things I do a lot of, so this jacket
here with the peplum detail, really fitted shape. It's going to be a popular one. It's
based on a shape I've done before. It's always really popular. Tailoring is just something
that a lot of new designers don't do because it is more expensive, it is more difficult,
a lot more time has to go into it. You see a lot of draped, a lot of very simple pieces
with new designers, but I just like my tailoring. I like making everything as complicated as
possible. But it makes everything very flattering.
These are my super high-waisted trousers. They don't really make an impact hanging up
but when you see them on the body they're very flattering, so they're my best seller.
I make them every season in different fabrics and women just really love them. It's very
hard to get very high-waisted trousers on the high street, so I have regular customers
who come to me all the time looking for them.
I have used leather on and off for the last few seasons, but normally it's a soft napa
leather like this. I just wanted to be a little bit different this season and I went with
patent leather. I've really been thinking about it for the last few seasons and finally
worked up the nerve to do it because it's a bit showy, it's a bit out there, and it
adds an edge to
the classic shapes.
