Johnny Boychuck: West Wing Week.
Narrator: Welcome to the West Wing Week, your guide to everything that's
happening at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
This week, the President prepared for and delivered his
State of the Union address; welcomed the Boston Bruins to
the White House; and took his "Blueprint For An America That's
Built To Last" out west to Iowa, Arizona, Nevada, and Colorado."
That's January 20th to January 26th or
"The State of the Union Edition."
The President: Tonight, I want to speak about how we move forward and layout a
blueprint for an economy that's built to last.
Narrator: On Friday, and up through Tuesday's State of the Union
Address, the President, his top advisors and speech writers,
worked through policy initiatives to craft a blueprint
to lasting economic recovery, built around four key pillars:
American manufacturing; American energy; American workers;
and American values.
Meanwhile, on Monday, the President welcomed the six-time
Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins to the White House to
honor the team for their 2011 Stanley Cup victory and their
charitable work off the ice.
The President: The Bruins, the Sox, the Celtics, now the Patriots --
(laughter)
-- enough already, Boston!
(laughter)
Narrator: On Tuesday, January 24th, the President gave his third State
of the Union Address on his central focus as President --
rebuilding an economy where hard work pays off and responsibility
is rewarded.
The President: The state of our union is getting stronger.
As long as I'm President, I will work with anyone in this Chamber
to build on this momentum.
But I intend to fight obstruction with action.
And I will oppose any effort to return to the very same policies
that brought on this economic crisis in the first place.
(cheering and applause)
Narrator: On Wednesday and Thursday following his State of the Union
Address, President Obama embarked on a five-state swing
across the country starting in Cedar Rapids, Iowa,
at Conveyor Engineering.
And then to Arizona to Intel's Ocotillo plant.
The President: I'm here because the factory that's being built behind me is
an example of an America that is within our reach --
an America that attracts the next generation of good
manufacturing jobs.
An America where we build stuff and make stuff and sell stuff
all over the world.
Narrator: On Thursday, he was in Las Vegas to speak at UPS, and Denver,
where he spoke at Buckley Air Force Base.
Back at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue,
the White House was busy introducing new innovative ways
for the American public to ask questions and engage with senior
administration officials about the State of the Union Address,
including a panel discussion streamed live immediately
following the speech and in the following days a series of
office hours on Twitter with advisors to the President.

Cody Keenan: This is the first time I've been locked in a room with Jon for
two weeks straight without oxygen.
Speaker: How fun!
Cody Keenan: It's been really fun.
We've gotten to know each other really well --
as if we haven't over the last five years.
