A really often-asked question is "Is this recession just a natural process of getting
older?" Getting older itself is more a factor that
tells us how quickly the recession is occurring. If we look at why do we get recession in the
teeth and around the teeth rather than the gums receding, it's more a function of we're
brushing too hard and the actual gums are being stripped away from brushing too hard
or if there's an infection there and the infection's eating the gum away from the tooth. The age
itself tells us the speed of the process and how it's occurring.
The treatment really to prevent the recession continuing is to look at identifying well,
have I been brushing too hard or is there a disease process going on and addressing
those, and then the recession won't continue.
