Hello, my name is Dr. Susan Jewell, on behalf of Expert Village I'm going to talk to you
about skin cancer, signs of skin cancer. Now, in this series, next series of clip, we're
going to talk about how to do a skin self examination. Now, what you need to do in a
skin examination is first find a room that is well-lit and the tools to use is find a
hand-held mirror, a full length mirror as well and also a comb and a diary or a journal
so you can keep taking notes on a regular basis, so that any time that you see new changes
you can always refer back to it. So, when you do a self examination you check for any
abnormal changes in your moles or skin tags or look for any red flaky patches that you've
never noticed before. Look for scars for that don't heal and look all over your body for
any changes that you think you might be suspicious that could be changing into early signs of
skin cancer. So, the next few clips we're going to go more into details in the specific
areas. Keep a log as I said, a journal, a diary, of every time you do an evaluation.
It's best to do when on a regular basis, every month and at the same time after a shower
and bath. So, this is how you should proceed to do a skin self examination.
