My name's Charlie Young, I'm a tourism
business owner here in Raglan. One of them being
the Raglan Surfing School, and its been going now for fifteen years.
Back in the seventies is when I started surfing in California and it was back in the hay-day
and your always dreaming of getting the perfect wave
it's an endless search. Well we looked at the map and said ok where have'nt we been
well New Zealand was one of those places so my wife an I decided ok let's go
we packed up and we came to New Zealand. Well as the days went on the weather got really beautiful
the waves started getting bigger and it ended up that 35
day journey that we had in New Zealand well we spent them
all out here in Whale Bay, we never left whale bay.
The movie The Endless Summer, Manu Bay was
featured in that and we went to Manu bay and it was one of the longest left-hand breaks in the world
so that's what made Raglan famous. We do Sunset cruises
with fresh Fish and Chips from the Raglan wharf and the
freshest product comes right off the boat which is right here.
Raglans a very cosmopolitan town and it's a little town but it has a huge heart.
So when I found this place, it was exactly what i had been
thinking of since I was 11 years old, this was the dream.
