hello This is David Allen from Mac 20 questions and and so going to have a
look at how we do some captions
on an audio track
so that we can have a caption sent to YouTube
and one of the reasons we might want to do this because if you have the captions in your
audio track
you've then got text in there that can be found
which will help the searching for
your videos so people will be up to find your YouTube videos and you'll have more views
and if you're monetising your videos you should make more money as well
let's go to our view menu and click on show captions
and you can see that there is a caption there already and let's also click on show caption track
so there's that caption track showing
so what it does is to split it up into sections so we have a
section here from
twenty-one seconds through to 20
4 and a half seconds
and that bit there is what we are going to not put into this section here
so what is to click on that there
will am going to be using DragonDictate on this but you could just type it in
into this thing here
or you can paste text and if you want to
in fact what I need to do first of all is to listen
to hear what is actually being said in that part
and now what you can do is to go to any side
but then what you can do is to go to any of the signs
scratch word
sides
so now I have got a caption track in there
so now what you can do is go to any of the sides and change
the size of the window
okay now if you look at this one here which is actually going to be too long
because
because this is where the audio stops and this is where
the caption tracks stops
so what I'm going to do is to press on the command key and the down arrow a few
times
now that brings him and put it
in the right position here
and it will be just perfect
so now what I'm going to do is listen to the next section and then going to put it in there
as a caption
any of the sides and start changing these
consider any of the signs and start changing these
and what I'm going to do Command key
bring that back a bit there
and it's just just the right length
What I can do is to press the up arrow with the command K and that will extended outwards
you can do it whichever way but it is not possible to get a mouse on this
sections here to move them
who is not possible to take one of these here and
take and put somewhere else
so also what you might want to do is if it's a long piece of text
and it's not going to fit in across the screen
so what you might want to do there is to do a second line
so let's click on that X button to get it out of the way
as you can see I have my second line there now and it fits on the screen
that will work fairly quickly for getting your captions
into youtube
when you have got it all done
I did a double tap
on my trackpad
and we go to export to SRT
when I go to export the video What I can do is to have video exported with the caption
track included
so that is two ways to get the caption track out that's with video and also you can get
the caption track out
as an Srt file
and that SRT file you can actually import and put into youtube
now this go to YouTube now and see what we've got to do with it once we got in there
let's go to the video let's go to the video manager
and the one on working on is this one here
click on that there click on
captions so says here upload caption file or a transcript
so I can click on that so i can choose the
file in the Finder window the captions SRT click on open
and we will give it a track name
we will call this ScreenFlow captions
just so that I know where it has come from
so let's just click on upload now to get this
you want to go for the captioned file which includes time code because it does
include the timecode in the
actual track there so let's click on upload
let's just click on that there
and you can see the set of captions that I just did there
solely timings are therefore when those captions are going to show
if I go to the machine transcript instead
you can see how useless it is
let's click on the play button
hello there is a David Allen for Mac 20 questions and I want to have a look at
at some tricks that you can do with the finder
as you say what he's doing there as it is going through that it highlights
the caption track here
the section that is being done at the moment
and if I go to this one here
if I move the
Track Back a wee bit there
so it is supposed to be saying hello there this is Dave Allen and so on but that's not working
hello this is David Allen and today we are going to look at Finder windows
so if I wanted to what could actually do is to do it through
this YouTube window you don't have to have ScreenFlow at all
but it does work pretty well when you do it with ScreenFlow
so you have two ways of getting captions into your YouTube videos now
you can
do it through this YouTube webpage where you can sort out your captions
grab a hold of a machine transcript
and then change it
or you can go to it through the ScreenFlow and upload a file
thanks for watching the video and why don't you check out the other videos
here are two of them. one video there and the video there, that you can click on and go and look at now
and don't forget that you can also subscribe. talk to you again soon bye bye now
