ROLLINS>>> It's about giving the young people a sense of belonging, a space where they can
be themselves, and can learn to do new things, creative things, and it's free and you get
to do it with your friends.
ROLLINS>>> Well we were invited by the Prebendal Farm Management Committee to think about the
needs of Young People in the area, over the summer we had the opportunity to run some
youth cafes here. For the last two or three months we've been really pushing towards today
to get people involved in a regular Youth Group.
KENNELL>>> The management committee which had been involved in this organisation had
basically fallen into dormancy and came together with a number of other agencies and local
residents and reformed the committee to take the Youth Club forward.
SMITH>>> When we heard that the County Council funding for the Youth Club was going we thought
we can't allow that to happen so along with other members of the Town Council I supported
some Grant Applications by both the providers here and we secured four thousand pounds in
funding.
GARSIDE>>> The Prebendal Farm area has historically suffered a slightly higher level of crime,
some of incidents involve young people who haven't got much to do in the area, haven't
got facilities for them, so we were quite keen that an excellent facility like the Youth
Club could remain open.
RUSSELL>>> The Trust are very pleased to have donated £2,500 and we know there have been
a number of other donations as well. We know that this Youth Club is really going to make
a difference to the Young People on this estate and have a very positive impact on the lives
of the local residents.
YOUNG>>> We purchased an X-box for the computer games, also we helped develop the child's
play area in several ways, we were involved in that as well.
KENNELL>>> The County Council have put in £4,000, we've had money from Aylesbury Town
Council, from the District Council, from other bodies including Vale of Aylesbury Housing
Trust, really everyone's pitched in.
JAMES>>> We have a great team, all of us, you know we're always getting into it, helping
each other out and bringing the Youth Cafe to different places, it's great.
NATHAN>>> It'll be better round Prebendal it won't be as boring and everyone will enjoy
themselves here.
ALEESE>>> I like the Sumo suits because it's fun, and most times I win.
HOLMES>>> So what would you be doing if you weren't here?
ALEESE>>> Sat at home in my bedroom.
JORDAN>>> I think it's nice, cool, fun.
KENNELL>>> It's not about teaching, or preaching, it's enabling them to do things which they
want to do, but at the same time doesn't mean any trouble caused for other people.
