Listen, I've got to tell you, there's one thing you simply must do today. You've got
to go to this website: www.moneysmart.gov.au. Write it down. It's part of ASIC, the corporate
regulator and it educates people about their finances and helps them avoid being ripped
out.
Now, I want you to go to this part of their website: Australia's Unclaimed Millions. ASIC
believes Australians have lost trace of $644m, and that doesn't even include superannuation.
This is the lost money in banks, life insurance policies, and lost share holdings. So after
you get here I want you to do something really simple, simply type your name in. I did and
this is what I found: I found some bloke named Ross Bretton-Greenwood, not me, owed $80.
Another bloke, Ross Greenwood-Smith in Coomera, Queensland owed $520. I searched for all of
us, Lisa, George, Carl, Stevie, Jacobs, no money for any of us. We're obviously all too
tight to lose track of our own money. But there's big money here - individual amounts
of more than $300,000 for people in Caulfield, Carlisle, Double Bay, Glebe, Joondalup, Matraville,
Melbourne, Perth, Randwick, Skye
and Waverley.
