Hello! This is Kristian from Secret Chest, I didn't find any thing to play, so maybe I'll
make you a review of the Mad Catz... Mojo for you guys!
A Micro Console by... Mad Cats of course. And we'll be taking a look at the ROOTED version.
Oh hi... I did'nt think you were watching, so I played some PC instead. I'll go back to MOJO
Yes then we're playing MOJO, and as you can see
the console is really pushing the bars for graphics with Tegra 4. It's fast processing and...
I'm just kidding!
What I'm going to do different this time from the last review
is the fact that the console is now ROOTED
This means I've got access to a lot more games than before
Sonic as you can see here, was one of those games I missed
and complained about not being able to install on the MOJO
But now things have changed
And with a rooted console, we'll have a new look at the MOJO
This is the main menu of the MOJO it is the stock tablet look for Android
It's quite simple to navigate through and you've got different ways of doing so
Including the controller with a D-PAD and a joystick
Another thing that's pretty cool for the MOJO is the ability to plug in a mouse and keyboard
So you could use this like a PC and search the Internet, check Faceook
Using a mouse is really satisfying on a console
Not all games are equally suited, but shooters and games like Plants Vs Zombies work well.
The only thing I don't like that much is the navigation bar at the bottom
Which is being used on tablets and phones. And it's kind of ruining the console feel
The next thing I want to check is the actual performance of the system.
And for this test, I've been using 3DMark for this purpose, a typical graphics benchmark, but hardcore test
And as we can see here it's quite a delightful sight The graphics are stunning, and pretty high FPS.
I'm impressed with the score It's 8596 and that's pretty descent
And this is Extreme, Ice Storm Extreme that is. If we compare its competitor, Ouya
We'll see that it scores 2251 on the same test Which is far behind MOJO
If these numbers don't say you much we can compare it to the Samsung Galaxy S3
If these numbers don't say you much we can compare it to the Samsung Galaxy S3
A reasonably common phone. We can see that the average score is 3193 on the same test
What this means is that the MOJO is about 2.5 times as powerful
The experience should be noticeably better than on the S3
Besides the awesome power and all the cool functions Once ROOTED, the MOJO now has access to a bunch of new games
Like Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode II
The original Sonic the Hegdehog
Sonic CD of course
But especially everyone's favourite, Sonic the Hedgehog 2
The MOJO comes with nVidia Tegrazone pre-installed
A nifty app which gives you a list of Tegra-optimized games. (Tegra is the graphics unit in the MOJO.)
It shows us which games that are available on Google Play
We also got MOJO's Featured Games which show us games that are optimized for the controller.
The selection of games has become a lot better after being ROOTED Games like GTA San Andreas are now available
This gives you a list over which games you've already purchased on Google Play
And makes them accessible here
Hey, wait! That's Crazy Taxi! You know what? I think I might actually could have some fun with this
We could take the original Crazy Taxi from Dreamcast And compare the versions against each other!
The first thing you notice is the resolution, which is a lot better on the MOJO
The contrast is also a lot better
In other words Dreamcast-users: You can safely make the jump to MOJO
Another game I want to mention is Reaper. This is a phone and tablet game, which is where I've played it the most.
But it was a completely new experience to play the game with a controller The game really feels like it's meant to be played with a controller
You perform a lot better with it Which puts the game in a whole new perspective
The game actually transforms into a hardcore experience which helps lift the MOJO as well
This is my favourite game on it so far, and I'd like to see more of these kinds of games
The only thing draws it down a bit is the navigating on the main map
Instead of having an arrow to easily choose where you want to go next You've got this circle, which you have to control with the joystick
And point it to the location you need to travel to Sometimes it doesn't help to do a double-tap
Which means you need to move the circle down to do some things
This makes it feel a bit less than a console game, but the game is so good in every other aspect so it doesn't really matter
I can surely say I'm pleased with having the console ROOTED
There weren't many games nor applications before Christmas
You can now access a lot more games and apps like 3DMark, so I could test the system
You've got available games like Sonic, Meltdown and Asphalt 8: Airborne
Further it's nice to finally have an app for Netflix, MOJO is designed to be a multimedia box
With the nice controller and it's media buttons, its nice not having to switch to a remote for this
Tegra 4 provides excellent graphics and plays games splendidly compared to its competition
I'll recommend everyone to ROOT their MOJO Both those who have bought or are planning to do so
Because it brings access to a lot more games apps, and functionality for the MOJO
It really makes mobile gaming massive As simple as that
The console is wonderful when ROOTED
