Radiology and medical imaging has revolutionized how we take care patients
and evaluate them.
Medical imaging has allowed us to look inside people's bodies
figure out what's going on
and even more importantly
making a diagnosis.
What's special about UVA Imaging
is the availability of large-bore imaging equipment. What that means is
that the opening of the machine
is much larger than the standard
MRI scanners that most other facilities in this area have and so for the
patients experience it's much less confining, confining
much less claustrophobic
so the patient experience is much better
and that provides the opportunity to obtain better images so in may allow us to
detect something earlier and better
and when you're talking about individuals and their lives and their loved ones
that makes a huge difference.
At UVA Imaging we have two different sites one at Fontaine, one at Northridge
We have evening hours, we have weekend hours
so for those of busy professionals or those young parents
who have children and they need to wait til they're both at home so that they can
go get
imageing studies performed they can do it after hours. It makes a huge difference
the ability to have access to that.
I think what really makes UVA Imaging Center the leader in the area
is multiple factors:
the people
that are here
the advanced technology
and the continuing
quest to improve.
Most of us at the university of Virginia
could have been in a community
practice
but what we want to do is
always push the envelope
to lead the field
we always want to be at the top, seeing what's over there
so how we can advance things
for our patients
