Welcome to HealthReform.gov.
If you tuned into President Obama's State of the Union speech, you heard him deliver
a powerful message to Congress about health insurance reform. "Do not walk away from reform,"
he said. "Not now. Not while we are so close. Let's find a way to come together and finish
the job for the American people."
A year into his Presidency, it's important to remember just how close we are to finishing
that important job. We have strong bills that have passed both the House and the Senate.
Both bills would cover tens of millions of Americans, end insurance company abuse, create
a new health insurance market where every American could get affordable coverage, slow
the rise of premium costs, and lower the deficit by as much as one-trillion dollars over the
next decade.
As President Obama pointed out in his speech, reform has broad support for those who know
our health care system best: doctors, nurses, and the experts who study health policy for
a living.
Most of all we know what would happen if we don't pass reform: Millions of Americans will
lose their coverage, more and more small businesses won't be able to cover their workers, premiums
and copays will eat up a growing portion of your paycheck, people with insurance will
continue to worry about going bankrupt if they get sick. We have come to far and health
insurance reform is too important to give up now.
It's time to finish the job.
