RYAN LARSON: So, now we're going to take a look at how the scale is written down in tab.
So, if we zoom in here, notice we have four strings, right, 1, 2, 3, 4, and that goes
from the top or the highest string down to the lowest string right here. And we started
out on the 8th fret, right? And that was our F. And notice I put a square around that and
I put a Roman numeral of one there so you know that's I. Then, when we went up, we went
8th to the 10th fret, then up a string, 7th fret, 8th fret, 10th fret. Now, put a square
around that, that's our V, and you can use that as a reference note. And again, Latin
goes I, V, V, I, so we'll show you that importance as well. And then we kept going to the top
string, 7th fret, 9th fret, 10th fret. Now, you want to take this and write it down at
home so you can go back and refer to this, and we're going to go over it even more and
give it the different numbers. But again, you're going from here to here and you want
to number it. There are seven notes in this major scale, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and we're
back at I. So, you want to write this tab down, and again, on the lower string, you
got 10, 8, 6 and that's going down 1, 7, 6, 5, 4. So, you want to write this down at home
so you can go back and reference to it and you want to make sure you have those intervals
names in there, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. Because as we go through and analyze tunes, we're
going to have a chord that starts on the 7th note and then we'll have a chord that will
start on the 4th note and then there we'll have a note that starts on the 6th note and
we'll be able to go through and find those notes just by playing the scale and going
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. That's the note right there. You can just do some walking. So, go through and really write this tab down
as we go through and explore a little bit more about the bass in F.
