Hi this is Zach Prez. This video will show you how to track search rankings and SEO with
automation. The first tool I use is Rank Checker , which is a free plugin for the Firefox
browser. You search for it in Google, it will give you, it will give you a site at seobook.com
where you can download this free tool. It will give you a little icon in the bottom
of your browser, you click on it, type in your domain and key phrase, and you can add
this to your report that you're going to run.
So let's say I want to know where I'm ranked for Photographers SEO Book, photographers
SEO blog, and later I decide I want to write a blog post for photography meta keywords
and see where I'm ranked for that. So a great tip here is as you find and develop more key
phrases to rank for, continually add those to your report and you can track how those
perform over time. Once you get a good report going to you can save this to your profile.
My results are in and I want to save this profile. And then later I can come back to
it when I come back to Rank Checker I can open a preset profile or a very cool feature
is I can export the history of that profile to .csv and what that will do is give me the
results of those keywords over time, every time I ran that report. So I can see that
my third keyword, photography meta data, I didn't have that in the system when I ran
it on February 1st. On February 12th, after I ran that blog post with those keywords I
was ranked 20. I noticed I was ranked 20 and wanted to improve upon that rank so I did
some additional optimization on that post and added some links back to that post and
was able to move that up to a rank for 4, for example. You could do the same thing for
your different keywords. That's how I use Rank Checker to monitor improve upon results.
The other cool thing is that within tools there's Rank Checker scheduled tasks and I
have a task to automatically run this every 2 weeks. So that when I go to export the history
I don't need to have remembered to run it at certain intervals, it will do that automatically.
So in my report I have a history of every 2 weeks running my main keywords. And I'll
show you an example of a real report that would have hundreds of keywords running over
time. Tat's how you can really use keyword tracking to your advantage.
Another great report is Google Webmaster Tools. Just do a search for that on Google. If you
don't already have it I have a great demo and training on my website on how to use that
tool. And within Google Webmaster Tools you want to navigate to top search queries and
you'll see a list of top search terms and their existing rank on Google. So here I can
see that SEO Book I'm ranked #21 for and that got 1% of my impressions on the web. And if
I go over to the right side I can see which queries got the most clicks. So even though
I'm ranked #21 for this term, I didn’t get any click through on that term. So it’s
kind of a balance of what appears in search versus what's clicked in search. And you can
make a lot of great findings about your site by looking at that data. So maybe I want to
move that rank up above #21 so I can get more clicks, or maybe that's the wrong term all
together and I want to change my strategy to rank for something different. But using
this report not only shows your rank, but the click through of that rank, so it can
be extremely valuable. I hope that helps. For more tips and training
