>> Derek I am new to Temple but as I like to tell my students, I am not new to the game
. I have been a professor for ten years now. What I do is I teach people the skills and
competencies associated with being a good human resource manager. You know the soft
skills of how to relate to other people, how to read between the lines. The last ten or
eleven years I've been doing research almost exclusively on research in the workplace.
It's my passion. It's understanding the little intricacies that make us different. What difference
do those differences make. I absolutely picked Temple out. Just something about being in
an environment that resembles the world. I call it my own little mini United Nations.
The blending of all the different types of folks to create this learning environment
where they're actually and interacting with one another and garnering these experiences
that they can turn around and capitalize upon later on when they're in the workforce. It's
very, very rewarding.
