Bye honey!
It's time for part 3 of our report of the Paris motor show.
I have to get back to work. We're going to make a nice video.
This is the new 6-series Coupe Concept...
...it's basically the coupe version of the 5-series.
I think the previous one was gorgeous.
But looking at this one I think...
...well...
...how shall I put it? The basic shape is fine...
...but I find all that chrome and those lights truly revolting.
Not that that matters for BMW, I can't afford it anyway. But still.
As you can see, the Saab 9-3 has had a facelift...
...and I think I see some LEDs here.
And over there's some exciting news...
...and that's this Saab 9-3 ePower.
It has lithium-ion batteries and a range of 124 miles...
...184 hp and a charger...
And a... I forgot my text.
And that's this Saab 9-3 ePower...
...124 mile range. It's reasonably quick with its 184 hp; 8.3 seconds to 62.
But it's a concept so it's not for sale yet.
I've got one question that no one dares to ask.
Holy Sh*t. -There we go again.
I noticed that the Spyker-Saab press release said:
...hooray! We have a strategic partnership with BMW for the engines.
Then I got the BMW's press release, and it said:
...hooray! We sold a lot of engines.
What's the deal? Do you have a partnership or have you just been shopping?
Listen, it's not very complicated.
Had you been to the press conference, you'd have known.
I wasn't invited.
Than you have to work some more to reach that level.
I'm doing my best. -You are doing a good job.
We have a 'supply agreement' with BMW.
We've said this is the first deal and we're anticipating making more deals.
Supply agreements and possibly, that's what we're researching...
...other agreements than just for engines.
Today we only have an agreement for an engine for the new 9-3...
...but that's not the end of it. It's as simple as that.
Their standpoint and ours is identical.
But dressed up a bit differently?
I don't know how they dressed it up and how we did...
...but one thing is certain; there's just one agreement and that's a supply agreement.
But you are happy with it? -Yes I am, I'm also very proud.
This is of course every representative's wet dream...
...a white Opel Astra station.
1550 liters of loading-goodness.
I think this is the highlight of the show...
...at least for some.
Opel has also brought the GTC Paris concept.
The exciting thing is first of all that it looks good...
...but also that this is the precursor of the three-door Astra.
And it will look very similar to this.
And it's also the precursor of the OPC version of the Astra which is also on it's way.
This Paris concept has a 2-liter turbo with 290 hp.
That's a lot. It's more than the Golf R, Golf GTI...
...and all those other slow competitors who'll be no match for the coming Astra OPC.
This is the Mazda 2 facelift and it's a bit of a disappointment...
...'cause it has no LEDs.
This is the Captiva facelift, no LEDs.
The Captiva concept isn't the only world premiere.
Chevrolet has four, so it's very busy here.
Behind me the Orlando, next to that the Cruze concept...
...and under that cover is the Aveo. We can't see it yet...
...but that doesn't matter because it's a boring little shopping cart.
Because of the strong form factor you immediately see that this is a Suzuki Swift.
And if you put the old one next to it you should be able to spot a couple of changes.
But it's completely new. It's got something with stronger steel...
...which makes it lighter and thus more economical.
There are a couple of facelifts at Hyundai...
...but they've turned off the lights so we can't see the difference.
So we'll just move along.
The Mitsubishi iMiev is an electric car with a top speed of 80 mph...
...and range of 80 miles when you're not driving at top speed.
And that's going to be a police car. I'm all for it.
We're going to plug this new Mini. Nice pun...
...'cause this is an electric scooter, the first Mini on two wheels...
...without having to be a stunt driver.
And there's another thing that isn't really mini, it's quite big.
The Mini Countryman WRC.
They're going to drive rallies with this Countryman WRC.
It looks funny, like a real rally car.
Now I've seen the Mini Countryman a couple of times...
...I'm starting to like its looks a bit more.
There were only a couple of places on the motor show that where really crowded.
At Mercedes it's ridiculous, everyone's in each other's way
So we just started filming with other people walking through the frame.
The new CLS. The name CLS always gets me quite excited...
...they're incredibly cool cars.
This one is too, it hasn't changed that much.
It also still has the nice roof line.
It's just a very cool car. This one is matte, bronze I think.
The interior is also very nice.
Nice leather, nice leather dash. Carbon trimming right here.
The colors are also very nice, brown-ish and gray.
It undoubtably costs extra, but like this it's just very beautiful
There's also a Russian sat nav, that's quite an experience.
But I already think it's great, and I haven't even driven it yet.
41 mpg, is that that special?
Well, look what car this is. Indeed, it's a Mercedes S-Class.
It isn't smallest around.
This car has a 4-cylinder turbo diesel, the S250 CDI. That makes it so economical.
The Mercedes Viano has also had a facelift.
And you can already see them; the LEDs!
The biggest surprise is, without a single doubt, Lotus.
They're a relatively small manufacturer, but they've brought 5 new cars.
They're still covered so we'll have to come back later...
...but there are an Esprit, an Elite and some more concepts.
But it's quite something that they present them all at the same time.
And we'll come back later to see what they look like and what they are. I'm excited.
Finally a really cool color on a Maserati.
Matte blue on a Granturismo S, how wicked is that?
But the real news is over there.
This is the Granturismo MC Stradale...
...that's really the street version of the race version.
It's had a power upgrade to 450 hp...
...a top speed of over 186 mph.
And it's got that great flashy Italian sports car looks.
When I say flashy, I actually mean very stylish.
This is just *** on wheels, simple as that.
This is Ferrari's party car, the SA Aperta.
It's based on the 599 and it's an homage to Pininfarina...
...who've been in the running for 80 years.
The SA stands for Sergio and Andrea, the two founders.
It's got a big V12 with 670 hp.
It's got a nice open top and it can do 200 mph.
0-62 in 3.6 seconds so it's an absolute supercar.
That's it from the Paris motor show.
I'm going to relax a bit and play with my iPad.
I'm going to watch my own videos again to see if they're any good.
I'll see you again in Paris in two years.
Next year we're in Frankfurt and in the meantime I'll be driving all sorts of cars.
Bye!
