We asked a friend over to try our new iPad app…
I like a lot of music, I like to have bundles of records and I really believe in the idea
of variety.
I use my laptop, my phone, use my iPad. Spotify was the only thing that I couldn’t bring
into line with the rest of my devices.
I’m like the first person to use it. They’ve definitely upgraded; I’m sure a lot of the
users are going to be very very happy. The app is so tangible and so easy to use it feels
like I’m part of these records, I’m getting involved with them.
This is weird for me actually, to finally see it as one piece of work on Spotify, it’s
crazy. And especially kind of seeing my album presented in this way. The clarity you’re
going to get now, it’s an experience while you’re listening to your music. This is
taking it to a whole new level.
I remember, a few producers I worked with, they kind of introduced me to Spotify and
I’m sure you know if certain producers were alive, like J Dilla, he would have loved to
kind of be in this kind of era; to think that you could pull all those records and put them
in one device, it makes your world a little bit more exciting.
It’s so easy to create your own playlist. To be able to share that as well with fans,
with friends… It’s going to be connected to my iPad’s Twitter and I’ll be able
to show my fans what I’m listening to at the moment, so it’s kind of made it a bit
of a neighbourhood. This is the way I’ve found a few people myself – unknowns or
people that are fresh on the scene, and I’ll also get all my mates on here too – look
at all these guys!
If I type my name, everything about me comes up. Oh look there’s a karaoke version of
Earthquake! You’ve made it once you’ve got karaoke versions of your songs haha!
My iPad’s always with me so when I’m on the run, when I’m on the road or when I’m
on tour I’ll be able to do that as well as I do it at home or in my studio. What more
do you need?
