Knotfest 2017 is very close,
this festival that has brought us great Metal bands
are about to be held again in the city of Toluca.
For this reason, we are going to tell you some curiosities
and part of the story of one of the bands that have caught the attention,
this is heading to the knotfest of children of boom.
Children of boom is a melodic metal band
from the city of Espoo in Finland.
This band was formed in 1993
under the name of inearthed.
The founding members of this band
were guitarist and vocalist Alexi laiho
and drummer Jaska Raatikainen
who met in high school
and went to the age of 14 when they decided to create the group.
Alexi laiho, born on April 8, 1979
his first instrument was the piano
which began playing at the age of 5 years and later played the violin.
Alexi started playing guitar at age 11
and it is said that one of his greatest influences
was Steve Vai.
Jaska Raatikainen was born in 1979
also began with the piano and also joined the band of the school
where he would play the horn
and later began playing the drums at the age of 12 years.
After meeting Alexi, Jaska finished forming the band
incorporating Alexander Kuoppala,
Henkka Blacksmith and keyboardist Janni Pera.
The band entered the studio only a year after it was founded
to record the demo Implosion Of Heaven which contained 3 songs.
which contained 3 songs.
For 1995 they would record their second demo
in which the work of Alexi would charge more force
since besides being the vocalist and guitarist
also played keybords and bass guitar
After a demo called Shining,
they managed to sign with the Spinefarm Records
under the name of children of bodom,
the band made this name change
because they had previously signed with another label,
which offered a much less attractive contract.
So they were forced to say that ineath was separated
in order to cancel the contract previously signed.
The name children of boom comes from a ***
committed at Lake Boom in Finland on June 4, 1960.
The story tells that one night
four teenagers went camping on the lake,
when they woke up, 3 of them were killed and the fourth,
an 18 year old survived but was injured.
The attacks were carried out with a weapon by an unknown person.
The mortal victims were 18 and 15 years old.
For his part, the survivor was sentenced to prison in 2004,
that is, 44 years after what happened but in the end he was acquitted.
To date the case has not been clarified.
For 1997 the line-up underwent a fundamental change
as Jane wirman, a virtuoso keyboardist
who at the age of 16 had already graduated from the Conservatoire of Finland,
was added to Janne as the perfect piece to give way to his first record material titled Something Wild.
The second Album of the band originally was to be called Towards Dead End,
but they decided to change the name to Hatebreeder
his disc would give them a wider projection,
they even got to touch in Japan in a tour along with inflames and sinergy.
So on this tour Alexi had to play for Children of Boom and synergy on the same night.
Both the covers of Hatebreeder and Beware The Heavens
were designed by Graham French,
both covers incorporated an element as a hallmark of the band.
The Grim Reaper,
who would appear on the covers of the 9 studio albums
suffering little change,
the most significant are in the album Are you dead yet?
in which only the hand is seen taking scythe.
And in Blooddrunk, where it becomes a little more difficult to distinguish
and in Relentless Reckless Forever
in which, the face is not shown and the costume suffers a change of design.
The look of this mascot is also inspired by the boom lake event.
With time Alexi decides to re-name him as Roy
based on a scene from the movie Hot Shots
where apart from the music members of children of bodom
have a high taste for him cinema,
this is reflected in his lyrics
since in several of their songs include movie phrases.
The final sentence of "Bodom Beach Terror"
comes from the 2000 American Psycho movie.
The speech at the end of "Needled 24/7"
Comes from the movie Platoon and is spoken by Tom Berenger.
The spoken introduction to the song "Follow the Reaper"
comes from the movie "The Exorcist III
The spoken introduction to the album 'Hatebreeder'
comes from the movie Amadeus (1984), the story of Mozart
The introduction of "Deadnight Warrior" was taken from the film It (1990)
and the presentation speech of "The Nail" was taken from one of the most Oscar winning films Ben-Hur
The members of children of boom have a good sense of humor,
this they make note every time they create a Cover
of some song completely foreign to the world of heavy metal,
among which we find
Rebel yell- Billy Idol
The Ramones - somebody put some in my drink
Party All The Time by Eddie Murphy
Sleeping In My Car by Roxette
And the funny oops I did not again from Britney Spears
where the voices were made by a singer named Jonna Kosonen
with whom Alexi has a conversation in the middle of the song
that is translated more or less like this:
