I would want to talk about Vermont maple syrup
In March, it's a big thing in Vermont for maple syrup
That is when sap starts flowing from the trees
This is a typical Vermont maple syrup container
It comes in various sizes
The one I showed you was a 32-ounce container--they also come in 64-ounce containers
Where does the syrup come from? It comes from maple trees.
One drills a hole and the sap comes out into a bucket or through tubes
The watery sap is then boiled and reduced to syrup
The syrup is very sweet and is 66 percent sugar
The syrup has nothing added--the ingredient list says just "pure maple syrup"
When you pull off a typical syrup container from the store--it lists about 10 ingredients
Maple syrup typically comes in 4 different grades--the first is "Fancy"
The rest come in "Medium Amber Grade A, Dark Amber Grade A and Grade B"
The fancy grade is lightly sweetened and has a light taste of maple
Grade B is very sweet and dark in color
People have different choices accorng to their tastes
If you are not sure which one to buy, it's usually safe to buy medium amber
The range of maple syrup offers a variety in tasting as to how sweet along with a strong maple flavor like Grade B
In any event, they all taste good.
When you buy it and open it, be sure to store it in the refrigerator because it has no preservatives.
When my wife and I eat pancakes or waffles on Sundays, we always use real Vermont maple syrup
We hope you will do the same someday. Thank you.
