I had done an Arts Degree and I really felt like
I needed to more than an Arts Degree
but I didn't want to do anything too narrow.
If you're unsure of what you want to do in your future and
you want a good opportunity to find out what you want and need
then the EMA is a good Masters program for you.
I did a class with Mike Davies on Communications and
that was actually what sort of lead to me wanting to work in Marketing.
I had never taken any Marketing classes before and
Mark's class gave me sort of Marketing 101 and the opportunity
to look into why organisations do things the way they do.
Everyone is fascinated by advertising and why it works the way it works
and I got a little bit of a taste of that in Mark's Communications class.
I sort of chose the Internship cause it was like if I could really do anything
or work anywhere I would be in this enormous corporation
and working in Marketing, spending lots of money, seeing how they do it
and that was really appealing to me cause it wasn't just
sitting in the classroom doing essays, it was real work experience.
I knew someone at NAB and she just sort of took my resume in,
circulated it inside the Marketing Department which is where I wanted to work.
Everything just sort of fell into place, our personalities all went together
and they just decided to take a bit of a leap of faith on me.
They had an empty position and they thought because I fit with them
in terms of personality and they sort of liked me, that they'd take me on.
It's a wonderful wonderful job, I'm very lucky,
I say that all the time.
I know it's really cheesy to say that doing the Masters Course
sort of changed the trajectory of my life
but it sort of absolutely has.
I would not have this job if it wasn't for the EMA
because it placed me directly in the place where I have begun my career.
I don't know which direction I would have gone if I hadn't done the Masters.
It's interesting to think of the hypotheticals like what I would have done
but I'm very happy where I am right now.
