Hello, this is Ian at ViewsHound. In this short video I’ll show you how to choose
an image for your article using the Shutterstock image library, and look at a few other points
to help make sure your article gets published on ViewsHound.
Let’s start by looking at images. You’ll see on the ViewsHound home page that all the
images on ViewsHound are landscape, not portrait. In other words, they’re wide, rather than
high.
Now we’ll move to one of your own articles. You can upload your own image if you have
the copyright, in other words you took this photo yourself and didn’t just copy it from
another website. Just choose the image from your computer, like this.
If you don’t have your own image you can select an image from the Shutterstock image
library. To do this, click this link to open Shutterstock in a new window in your web browser.
Then type into the search box what you’re looking for.
You’ll see a mixture of landscape images, which we want, and portrait images, which
we don’t. You can select the Horizontal tickbox on the left, and click the Search
button to narrow down your selection to only horizontal images.
When you’ve found an image that you like, click on it. You’ll see the Image ID appear.
You’ll need to select this number, which you can do by double-clicking it, then copy
it to your clipboard.
Then switch back to ViewsHound and paste it into the Shutterstock box. That’s all you
need to do.
While we’re on the article editing page, there’s a couple of other things I’d like
to quickly draw your attention to. You’ll see that each part of the page has some instructions.
We’d be really grateful if you’d take the time to read them. In particular:
Headlines should be written as a normal sentence, not in title case like this.
Paragraphs should not be indented, because this breaks our formatting.
We also show you how to do links and subheadings, so please take a look at that.
Once you’ve saved your article, you can click “Preview” to check how it looks,
and I recommend that you do that, especially if you are using bullet points, subheadings,
links or other formatting. Your shutterstock image will not show during the preview.
That’s all for now, so as ever, if you have any questions then just click Help at the
top of every page, where you can search our knowledge base and get in touch with us directly.
Thanks for watching, and happy ViewsHounding!
