Hi everybody
Today's video is very important because I'll talk about
how I brewed my first beer using All Grain method
despite fears of making mistakes, I must say that the brew-day
has passed smoothly
until the end
the only hitch, as you'll see in a moment, is about the bazooka
In fact
towards the end of the cooling we realized that
the filter was completely choked
and this made very difficult the wort's filtration
I started filling a pot with about 35 liters of water
and put it on the cooker to heat
subsequently
I connected
arduino with its probe
in the cockpit and I measured the pH of the wort
this is the pH
of water
once the wort has reached 67 degrees (celsius)
I started the insertion of milled grains
the recipe for this crush provided 5 kg of pilsener malt 300 grams of
cara-munich 300 grams of flaked wheat
and 200 grams of aromatic malt
immediately after the insertion of the grains
the temperature dropped to 65 degrees which was the desired temperature
pH of the mash
Now we correct it
with a little 'of lactic acid
this is the correct pH
this is the sample
with tincture of iodine
We saccharified
now we want to
to go
in mash-out
At the end of the mash, I raised for
5 10 minutes the temperature to 78 degrees to inactivate enzymes
and then I proceeded to remove the filter bag
it was not so difficult to pull it off
the important thing is to drain it well
to avoid losing too much water
regarding the hopping I decided to use only one type of hop
the cascade
as you can see in cones
the hopping was based on 4 thrown
the first, at 60 minutes of 30 grams
another one, at 30 minutes of 25 grams
the third one, at 10 minutes of 25 grams
and the last
at zero minutes of 30 grams
I also planned for this beer
a dry-hopping of 30 grams
here we had the problem
at the opening of the
valve to filter the wort
present in the pot
I realized that there was no filtration
the only way
to
let out the wort from the valve was to
stir constantly
the wort inside the pot
I do not know why the bazooka has decided to abandon me during
this brew-day
the fact is that for over 15 cooked made by the method E + G, I never had
any problems
I have in mind a number of changes. I will definitely adjust the mill
to obtain a rough milling
you have not seen in the video but
there was a lot of flour in the bucket I used to mill
Moreover:
I don't want to use any more
a free hopping but
I decided to use
from now on
the hop-bags
finally
even with the help of friends of the southern homebrewers I'm studying a
alternative system for filtering
all for today, I greet you and see you at the next video
Goodbye!
