(Cindy Collier): Hi, I'm Cindy Collier, Dean of Nursing and Allied Health at Bakersfield
College. Bakersfield College is the best place to come for nursing education. We need a baccalaureate
program in the Central Valley, and Bakersfield College is the place to do that.
(Corny Rodriguez): Chancellor Harris, hello. My name is Corny Rodriguez, and I'm the Academic
Senate president here at Bakersfield College. My message to you is that we really need the
baccalaureate program here at BC. Our nursing program at Bakersfield College has the highest
reputation. We have students that graduate and serve this community; we have students
who come from other communities to us. We're looking forward to being able to offer that
program here at Bakersfield College.
(Suzanne Davis): Hi, I'm Chef Suzanne. I'm here to talk a little bit about how Bakersfield
College and our two year culinary arts program is ready to expand to a four year hospitality
management program. We have a great community connection, with all of our local hotels - The
Padre, the Marriott, Four Points Sheraton, and many of our other large local employers.
We're ready to expand to a four year hospitality management degree that would involve our community,
and all of our neighboring communities. We look to you for that kind of support.
(Sean Caras): Hi, I'm Sean Caras, Engineering and Industrial Technology Department Chair.
In our program, we have automation, instrumentation, process control. Choose Bakersfield College
- we have it all.
(Sonya Christian): Chancellor Harris - Hi, I'm Sonya Christian, President of Bakersfield
College. You've seen our faculty - they're excited. We've got to get the baccalaureate
degree here at BC. We're celebrating our 100th year, and what an amazing time to have the
first Bachelor's Degree program at Bakersfield College. So, you're probably aware that Dorothy
Donahoe was the legislator who proposed the California Master Plan. She was one of us,
here from Bakersfield. So what a great tribute to her. What a great tribute to the South
San Joaquin Valley. Let's do the baccalaureate degree program here at Bakersfield College.
(Sean Caras and Students): Go Bakersfield College!
