My hair's almost too long for pigtails. Is that stopping me? No.
Hello, watchers! It's JordanThatblondegirl, and if you've read the ghastly unoriginal title
and have some grip on pop culture, you know that today I will be talking about the Ghostbusters.
I just saw the new movie on Sunday and I am REALLY happy about it.
But, before I tell you why I liked the film so much, we have to take a brief story time.
Sometime back in March, an acquaintance of my roommate was hanging out in our dorm.
He saw something related to the new Ghostbusters movie and promptly started complaining about it.
Main arguments being:
'Why does it need a remake?' and 'Why are all the Ghostbusters girls?'.
To which, my roommate and I replied: 'Why not?'
Now, I finally sat down last week and watched the 1984 version.
And, after viewing, my Reasons the Ghostbusters Needs a Remake List got a little longer than that.
The top three reasons being:
There was minimal character development across the board
The so called "romance" between Dr. Venkman and Dana was puke worthy and
not in the rainbows puking kind of way
and, honestly, Dr. Venkman was an annoying character.
As for this boy's second question - why the all female cast?
Riddle me this, Batman:
Why were they all dudes to being with?
If you question one, you have to question them both.
Think of yourself like one of your teachers, in order to accurately grade you and your classmates
you have to answer the same questions.
It's a good thing gender doesn't matter to the paranormal.
2016's Ghostbusters had great comedic timing, an awesome cast of lead characters,
and a reasonable amount of character development for a quest driven story.
Also, at one point, Chris Hemsworth's character was described as a 'flying beefacke'
Which, let's be honest, was probably the casting call for Thor.
I have to say, Patty was an absolute gem of a character
and Jillian Holtzmann made me wish I had better cosplay skills.
All the leads were weird and relatable and realistic.
And the references to the original added to the comedic appeal but they weren't its entirety.
There was just enough original material to couch the film in the Ghostbusters universe
but it had enough original CONTENT to make sure that it stood on its own.
In summary, 2016's Ghostbusters is a quality film,
one that actually makes me want a sequel to happen.
