An important part of your business page is the admin panel, which gives you an overview
of all activities on your business page. In this panel you can see new "likes" and messages,
personal messages sent to your business page, a summary of your page statistics and from
here you also have access to the settings of your business page.
With permissions you can make sure that your page, or parts of it, are only visible to
specific people or groups. Go to your business page, click on 'edit page' and then 'manage
permissions'.
This way you can restrict people of certain ages to have access to your business page,
determine which possibilities fans have when they want to post messages on your page or
'tag' their friends in photos and videos.
In addition, Facebook can automatically filter the terms posted on your business page by
using the Moderation Blocklist, to avoid and delete unwanted or shocking messages.
As I explained earlier, you can also turn the function of targeting updates on and off
in the "manage permissions" section.
In the same section you can also determine whether fans are able to send you personal
messages. Simply check or uncheck the box found next to the heading 'Messages'.
As a result the "message" button will either be shown or hidden on your business page.
In short, you decide whether your fans have the opportunity to send personal messages
to your business page or not.
Why would you turn off the "message" button? Firstly, you won't receive any spam in the
inbox of your business page. Secondly, it is recommended to turn it off
if you consciously don't want to use your business page as a service channel.
So why would you turn on the "message" button? Because it offers individuals an easy way,
yet hidden from others, to contact your company. Secondly, by showing the "message" button,
it gives the impression that you are willing to use your Facebook channel for one-to-one
contact with your customers
and fans.
