1979 to '93 Mustangs equipped with the five liter engine
are also equipped with this chrome five liter fender
emblem.
Now, if yours looks a little bit like this,
it's definitely in the wrong spot.
But then again, who's to say what the right spot is?
Because the factory really didn't have a template.
They just kind of stuck it in a general direction.
But this one needs to be a little bit more
centered, a little further up, and definitely more level.
Removal of the emblem is pretty simple.
Just take some masking tape, and tape
around the emblem to protect the paint.
Then you can use either fishing string or a putty knife
to break the tape loose from the paint.
Once the emblem's out of the way,
go ahead and remove your tape, clean up the entire area,
and then use an eraser wheel to remove
whatever tape residue is left.
Then you can use the template for locating the fender emblem.
This can be downloaded off of latemodelrestoration.com's
website.
Peel and stick.
Now you want to repeat this same process for the other side.
And man, that really made a good improvement on this '90 coupe.
