The whole World is celebrating Brazil. The World Cup is coming and the olympics in Rio
is next. It’s in fashion to be Brazilian. But in a place where we have one of the greatest
Brazilian communities in the World, we don’t need too many reasons to wear green and yellow
and show our “Brazility”. The numbers are not very precise but some believe about
100.000 Brazilians call Florida home and most of them are in the South Part of the State.
All this people had an encounter with Brazil in Pompano Beach Saturday 23rd of November
2013 for the second Brazilian Festival at Pompano Beach Community Park. The festival
represented very well our racial, musical and culinary diversity and our openness to
other cultures.
Sonora Cubano "My wife is Brazilian, I am Cuban and we love
to be part of events like this.
Everywhere we look around the festival we could see beautiful people, beautiful people,
beautiful people, beautiful people
"So Beautiful"!
This people came to have fun and didn't waste the trip
"The festival is so nice and you at home are missing all that… There a lots of beautiful
girls"…
It's so nice to be here with all the food stands, we can have brazilian food and hear
the sounds of Brazil, congratulations for the production
I think it is all wonderful, congratulations to the producers for the initiative, its so
nice!
The festival is great! It's up beat, the food is great and we like it a lot.
"It all looks like Brazil right'?
It all looks like Brazil… Makes me miss Brazil a lot…
And we definitely have to have these songs to dance...
Despite all the offers and display of Brazilian products and services the Brazilian Festival
of Pompano Beach became an excellent marketing tool for companies that have the Brazilian
Community as a target.
The goal of the bank was to get to the retail banking market in the USA and to get closer
to the Brazilian Community that made South Florida home and Banco do Brasil is now part
of this house as well.
This is a community where we find many Brazilians and latinos and americans as well and an event
like this gives us the chance to reach people we can't reach otherwise. Here we can share
our product and our brand which is our main goal.
Between the many demonstrations of our culture there was a special moment of our precious
black heritage: Master Branca brought a group of "capoeiristas" for a "roda" in the festival.
Many artists represented the many styles of Brazilian music
Between the local bands was Batuque Samba Funk that has been in evidence in the area
with and an incredible fusion of rhythms. They put the "brazucas" to dance at Pompano
Beach Community Park.
It's so nice (to be here), it’s just great for us because we don’t have many chances
to play in this area, we are always playing in the Miami area
We want to make people dance and shake and feel a little of Brazil here…
The great visionary of this event, the great supporter of this festival, the one who gave
us everything we needed for this festival to happen, Mayor Lamar Fisher
Some numbers of the festival: Almost 10 000 people came to the event between 11am and
10pm. The Brazilian Festival was a record for the number of cars parked around the Community
Park. 2 generators were used with a total of 700 KWAs to empower 20 tons of light and
sound for more than 100 expositors, kids and food areas. 400 bags of ice and 700 boxes
of sodas and other drinks were sold. More than 60 people worked in the production of
the event. 25 policemen and 25 city workers were involved as well.
The climax of the festival didn't disappoint the people that came to enjoy a whole day
of "Brasility". Banda Mel from Bahia State came to make Pompano Beach shake.
That was an unforgettable day for the Brazilian community in South Florida and for everyone
who loves the Brazilian Culture. Everybody now is thinking of the attractions and everything
that is going to happen in the next Brazilian Festival de Pompano Beach.
