In this clip we're going to learn how to convert fractions to decimals. And most people have
a hard time with that, or are afraid of it, because they're afraid to divide. But we must
not be afraid of that. One divided by two. Here's your fraction, and here's going to
be your decimal. What do we do? Okay, we take the big number on the bottom, divide into
the little number.
Okay, and then we'll put a one there, put a decimal, and put a couple of zeros. You
can put one hundred zeros or three zeros, whichever one you want. Make an arrow like
this, put the decimal here so you know exactly where the decimal goes. Two into one doesn't
go, so you put a zero there. Two into ten goes exactly five times. Five times two is
ten. You need to know how to do your basic division in order to work these problems.
We're done with that. So the answer is zero point five, which is the same as one half.
And by the way, everyday language, this is zero point five, but in mathematics you read
this as five tenths.
