KADU: What's up?
It's Kadu from DanceOn.
Day one, Hip Hop International, Vegas.
We're at the Red Rock Resort and Casino.
It's pretty dang hot outside.
I hear things are heating up inside.
Let's go take a look.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
KADU: What's up, y'all?
It's Kadu with DanceOn.
I'm here with Prodigy, last year's winners.
CHLOE: Hi, I'm Chloe.
LIL GHEE: Lil Ghee.
AJ: I'm AJ.
ANNA: I'm Anna.
JULIENNE: And I'm Julienne.
KADU: How did you guys feel about your
routine right there?
FEMALE SPEAKER: We felt we did pretty well.
MALE SPEAKER: Yes.
KADU: What's different about having to compete this year?
Because you already won, so you already get to advance.
So what's it like right now in the preliminaries?
CHLOE: It's kind of like a little bit more pressure,
because we're expecting a lot.
KADU: Can we see your hair?
Who did this to you?
What is this?
Oh my god.
KADU: What's up?
I'm here with Rap Sheet from Alhambra, California.
Do you guys feel pretty good about what just happened in
the routine?
FEMALE SPEAKER: Yeah.
KADU: Yeah?
RAP SHEET: Rap Sheet.
KADU: All right, I'm here with Prophecy.
Could you tell us a little bit about your crew?
FEMALE SPEAKER: What's up?
Uh, we are Prophecy, ready to compete, varsity division.
We've been dancing together for a
really, really long time.
We're coming out here ready to bring it.
So we hope everybody's ready for this.
KADU: Can you tell us a little bit about these costumes?
What inspired this?
FEMALE SPEAKER: Our theme is beast mode.
We're trying to bring it to the States.
KADU: Do you guys eat Skittles before you go into beast mode,
like Marshawn Lynch?
FEMALE SPEAKER: They definitely caught
the rainbow, yes.
KADU: All right, what's up?
I'm over here with Tyler from HippoEsthetics.
TYLER: We're one of the biggest artistry wear brands
out of Vegas.
We've been around since '05.
KADU: You said you had a little bit of a connection to
the Jabbawockeez.
Tell me a little bit about that.
TYLER: Um, yeah.
Chris, um, is one of the partners of the brand.
KADU: HippoEsthetics.
Hey, I'm here with the Bandits.
They just killed it in there.
They had sick energy.
I still got goosebumps, girls.
That was crazy.
FEMALE SPEAKER: Thank you.
KADU: You guys got it hyped in there.
Like, everyone was really feeling it.
Like, who did the track selection on that?
FEMALE SPEAKER: Our choreographer, Josh.
FEMALE SPEAKER: From Hype-50, ABDC.
KADU: Right on.
Is Hawaii just, like, an island that just breeds swag?
Like, look at these pants.
Can you get these pants in here?
Oh my god.
FEMALE SPEAKER: Swag.
KADU: Those are the Bandits, representing Hawaii, Big
Island, Honolulu.
FEMALE SPEAKER: Oahu.
KADU: Oahu?
FEMALE SPEAKER: Yeah.
KADU: It says Honolulu.
FEMALE SPEAKER: That's Oahu.
KADU: I just got schooled in geography by the Bandits.
[LAUGHTER]
KADU: All right, I just grabbed Mookie as he came off
the stage, just after announcing the juniors and the
varsity finalists.
Mookie, who was your absolute favorite?
Just give it to us straight.
MOOKIE: Oh my gosh, dude.
Everybody.
Everybody's my favorite out here, representing.
It's the 11th annual Hip Hop USA Championships.
We got Honolulu, Hawaii.
I mean, this is crazy.
Everybody's out here doing it, man, doing it big, and just
putting it down.
So I just love the energy that everybody's bringing.
Everybody's uniting, coming together, representing hip hop
and representing dancing culture in one.
I love it.
That's what we're about.
KADU: All right, after a long first day of Hip Hop
International, here's how the junior's bracket looks.
11 teams entered, but only six could advance to the finals.
In sixth place, Mighty 7 of San Diego, California.
Fifth place, Recess--
Houston, Texas.
Fourth place, Genex--
New York, New York.
Third place, Rascals--
Honolulu, Hawaii.

The Prodigy and Miniotics were separated by less
