Tub Potion Bathtub Tile Refinishing Coatings Adhesion Test Results. Here's how to avoid
peeling tub & tile problems when having your bath refinished. Coating peeled off in sheets,
complete failure.
Don't let this happen to you, peeling coatings is one of the biggest complaints on bathtub
tile refinishing.
Introducing; TubPotion #8 Anchor Grip Plus. Here you'll get to see the advantages of using
TubPotion # 8 Organofunctional silane coupling agent adhesion promoter (think super glue).
Left ceramic tile untreated & top coated. Right ceramic tile treated with tubpotion
# 8 and top coated, both are allowed to cure for several days to develop their full properties.
The first test is called "Adhesion Cross Hatch" the coating on the tile are cut with a scalpel
10 times in a one inch area, top to bottom and side to side, this reduces surface area
the coating has to adhere to. close-up each square allows for approximately
2.5 centimeters of surface area to adhere to . Duct tape is applied and pressed firmly down.
Untreated side failed the cross hatch test.
Then I that took it up the next level using high adhesion gorilla tape tub potion # 8 held strong.
Next test is attack of water! The coating
is cut from corner to corner, the most destructive forces in adhesion is migration of water under
the surface of the coating. To accelerate failure I boiled the coated
and cut for six hours. I didn't expect the coating to survive attack water... but it did!
Without any signs of lifting.
Be sure to have tub potion #8 used for your bathtub tile or countertop refinishing project.
That is if you want your project done right?
