Okay how to identify a ewe from a ram and this is the basic premise of any mammal. Any
female mammal produces milk so in order to produce milk, you've got to have teats and
you've got to have the ability to produce an utter. So she is down here under all the
manure that she has. There is one *** and there is the other over here. She has two
teats and when she is bred and ready to give birth, she will develop a small utter about
the size of my hand like this. About the size of my hand like this. They are not huge utters.
Sheep are not enormous milk producers but they do produce milk. But she does have those
two small teats and she will produce an utter once she is bred. Now if it is a ram, it is
not going to have those two little teats. It is going to have a ***, a little bag
hanging down right between its back legs that contain the testicles so that is how you tell
a ram from a ewe. You can do it when they are grown because a large ram, that ***
is very obvious. Even when you can't see the utters on most sheep because they are very
small. They are not at all like a cow. If you look at a herd of sheep, you can find
the *** on a ram because it will be a large sac hanging down between his back legs.
