My name is Tres Tew. I'm an instructor here at Yeshua's Ryu Martial Arts and on behalf
of Expert Village, today I'm going to be talking to you a little bit today about stick fighting
or Escrima stick fighting. Now I'm going to show you how to defend against a strike. This
is actually a switch strike. Someone is coming in just like this and their intention is either
to switch, or maybe they just want to fake you out and go straight here. Nick, get in
a fighting stance. Okay, what you are going to do is, you are going to use a push block.
You are going to block it just right up here under the wrist. You can block it on the hand;
that's probably going to loosen it up a little bit, but you want to go ahead and attack with
this. Then you are going to strike the face through here, maybe push through again, and
then you are going to attack this hand, move this around out that way. Strike again, and
then always...If they are a strong guy, a pretty tough guy, they may want to come back
and cross. So strike here. Maybe strike that hand and get him to drop it. Strike the leg;
you've got all these attacks. So one more time, coming in. Push block, strike, strike
there (all these different strikes you've got). You can reach back to the knee, okay;
whatever you've got to do. That's how to defend yourself with a push block coming from a switch
hit.
