In 2010 Haiti suffered a devastating earthquake.
Many people died and millions became homeless.
CDC staff in Haiti worked to support their recovery efforts
and protect that country and ours from threats to health.
Diseases know no borders, so we work to stop outbreaks
around the globe where they emerge.
Part of improving public health
after the earthquake included supporting the countries efforts
to rebuild.
Along with the CDC Foundation
and other critical partners we worked to assure
that there were laboratories and offices
to house the critical work that protects the public's health.
Haiti is making real progress improving public health.
Twice as many people are being treated for ***.
More children are receiving lifesaving vaccines
and other debilitating infectious diseases are being
controlled for the first time.
There's much more to be done.
CDC will continue to work 24/7 to save lives, protect people,
and keep people safe from threats to their health.
