I was in fourth grade the first time I came to Towson University
to participate in a solo and ensemble festival,
and it was adjudicated by Dr. Joe Biscusso, who would later teach me in college.
Hi, my name is Dave Rybczynsi and I'm currently
a student in the Masters in Music Education Program here at Towson University.
The thing, I would say, that attracted me the most to Towson University's grad school program is that
I knew I wanted to study a diverse range of topics,
in, and related to, music education.
And that includes performance, theory, and education techniques.
And I knew that I could get all of that here at Towson University.
Well, I enjoyed a very good run as a traveling performer
in my twenties and my thirties
and I had a lot of opportunities to play a diverse range of musics
and this is a wonderful experience for me.
The kind of thing I really had dreamed about as a boy, wanting to be a performing artist.
The opportunity to perform with world-class musicians in many places around the world,
in great concert halls and orchestra halls, left me with the feeling that
I have a lot for share with younger people who are just getting started.
And so, when I started to teach at Howard Community College I pretty quickly realized that
I wanted to further my own education
and the graduate programs in music education, here at Towson University, really appealed to me.
So it's made perfect sense for me, as a college teacher now,
to study education, on the graduate level.
And I'm so happy that there are many areas of study available to me, just within this one degree program.
And I'm really able to complement what I do at Howard Community College
with what I study here, at Towson University.
I'm very much looking forward to each new semester I have here
because I feel like I bring some new perspective with me back to the classroom every semester.
And after I finish this program, I'm sure I'll be moving directly into the doctoral program.
And I'm really looking forward to that as well.
