It’s spread by mosquitoes as the Governor indicated and there is an incubation period
that is anywhere from three days to ten days after someone has been bitten by a Triple
E positive mosquito. I would just say with that regard, we may still have human cases
that get announced in the coming days because people may have been exposed already and they
may not be symptomatic yet. The kind of symptoms people have are high fever, stiff neck, lack
of energy and the symptoms progress quickly so people feel very bad and bad enough so
that they or their family members would quickly notify a doctor. And so we work with the clinicians
in the southeast and throughout the region to make sure they are aware that the symptoms
I’ve described, they could be symptoms of a number of different illness, that a doctor
looking at a patient with those symptoms would seriously consider that this might be Triple
E, draw a specimen, send that specimen to the state laboratory where we can do an illness
of whether or not it is in fact Triple E.
