pots are a great way to provide instant gratification and instant color in almost any situation
the great for patios...
balconies, apartment dwellers - anyplace where you have a little bit of outdoor space...
you can throw a great pot in it
the first thing you'd want to do is choose a great focalpoint
I'm choosing a cordyline for this
you want to make sure you have something really great to be the center of attention
when you you mismatch a bunch of things it tends to look haphazard
first thing, fill the pot with just a little bit of dirt
and now, slide this out of its bucket
grab it by the base and slowly pull it out
this is actually pretty dry
so it's sliding out nicely
slowly pul the roots
when grown in these pots, the get root bound
once you've done that all the way around
set it in the middle of the pot
by putting this thing around
and then begin to fill...
(that worked well)
begin to fill in dirt around it
now i'm gonna put in the polymer
as the stuff expands it's gonna soak up water and reduce watering times
water will slowly release later on
into the soil when it becomes dry
soil moist and other water reducing products are designed to reduce the amount times you have to water
they slowly absorb water and get to be even bigger than this - this is probably half way
when you put them in dirt they slowly release the water when the dirt becomes dry
it's a great way to reduce your waterings or for vacations or in hot climates
I'm gonna take these 4-1/2" pots of both calibrachoa and fuchsia
and place them gently
breaking up the roots slightly into the pot
because i want this to really trail overÉ
I'm gonna lay them on edge slightly so that they are forced into doing it
I'm alternating them with the hopes that when they are grown in they'll start growing
together and look like a big mass of both the fuchsia and the calibrachoa
when they're all in and they're evenly spaced I'm gonna take my handy-dandy bowl
and handy-dandy scoop
and just slowly fill in around them
being careful not to disturb much of the polymerÉ
or the root systems that are already in place
when you're done, you'll have this great pot everything will be filled in
and you'll get get instant gratification and color to what ever situation you chose to put it in
