Hi everybody. It's a Doc's Dawn Raid.
We're at the beautiful Carton House in Maynooth, County Kildare.
It's got the O'Meara course, the Monty course. Stages the Irish open.
A fantastic venue. We're on the beautiful driving range today
testing a range of clubs from Golfbidder. Now I’ve got Dominic with me here testing
the Callaway FT-i Tour driver. now quite controversial when it came out.
So demonic we're going to get you to hit a ball and tell us what you think about it.
Have you used a square driver before? No first time.
But you are a Callaway user right? Yeah. FT-3.
So how do you hit it? Just hit one for the camera there and tell
us what you think about it. Quite a loud noise out of it.
Yeah very noisy. But like you say you wont be sneaking around
at night with it. Um but yeah I like it.
It seems to keep the ball straight in the air.
Probably if you put it in my hands in the shop it would not be my first choice.
The traditional look i prefer. But having hit it, it's a different story
now. I certainly would consider it.
Is it off-putting to look down on these square drivers?
It is a little because I traditionally like a smaller head.
But then again weight wise it does not feel...well it feels nice.
You have to swing it a bit to really appreciate it.
But fusion technology really took off for Callaway.
Fusion just means it’s got a steel face, steel sole, a titanium crown.
So what they do is with these light crowns they save weight.
And with these square heads what they do is put the weight in the corners.
And basically it tested on the robots when they tested the club the resistance to twist
or moment of inertia it’s called is the best with these clubs.
So theoretically they're supposed to go straight. For people who don’t hit the ball straight.
So maybe a little bit off putting but gets the job done.
And it is straight! even off slight miss-hits, it's pretty straight.
Ok. So that's the Callaway FT-i Tour Driver. You can check it out very cheap on Golfbidder.
