Angelo State is excited to introduce a new tool
allowing you to authorize external access to
your FERPA and selected student information
No longer will you to need to complete a
paper form, as this is now available
to you in RamPort
Let's walk through the steps to provide a person
access to your FERPA and
selected student information
First, log in to your secure RamPort account,
and click the "Student Services" tab
In the "Student Services" channel,
click "Rams Logon"
This will open up a new window
with your student information
Click the "FERPA/Proxy" tab
On this screen, you should
see any existing authorized users
To give a new person FERPA access,
click the "Add Authorized User" link
Please read the information on this screen,
as it details what this person will have access to
If you have any questions, please contact
the registrar's office or
visit the ASU FERPA web site
Complete the required fields for the new user
Provide an active e-mail account,
and let the person know you are setting up
so they will be expecting the e-mail
Click the "Add Authorized User" button
which sends an e-mail to the person
with steps to finalize their access
There is one more required step to grant
FERPA access to the user
Click the "Expand" link beside the person's name
In the "Profile" tab section, complete
the "Relationship" and the "Description" fields
Be specific in the "Description" field
Some examples are Dad, Mom, Employer,
and Academic Adviser
This information is automatically saved
You have now set up an authorized FERPA user
which allows ASU staff and faculty to discuss
your educational and financial records
with this person
If you wish to grant additional
online viewing access,
click the "Authorization" tab
Check the box beside the corresponding
information you wish the person to view
These choices are automatically saved
If the user forgets their password,
only you have the ability to reset it
To reset their password, click the "Profile" tab
then click "Reset Password"
You can also remove an authorized user
at any time from your list
To do that, click the "Profile" tab,
then click the "Rescind Authorized Proxy" link
This will remove the person, and they will no
longer have access to your information
If you have any questions,
please contact the registrar's office
or visit the ASU FERPA website
