The first thing we want to do, is cut our sponge. Now, in order to do that, we want
to get the shape that we're going to be using, for the boat, and we're going to make our
outline around, and this helps us when we're cutting the sponges, not the easiest thing
to cut. It doesn't hold it's shape, as you're dragging the scissor through it, so it's good
to have some lines to guide you, as the sponge is moving around, and I made it a little bit
bigger, because I'm not going to concern myself too much with the excess, because I have my
second sponge, but again, if you want to just be using one sponge, then you can just have
one larger sponge, and make the outline, and cut around it. You'll have enough excess to
make the second layer, so we've made the outline. Now, we're going to go ahead and cut it, and
we see that the shape that we made, is kind of like a half of an oval, and the thinner
end will be the front of our boat., the more narrow end, and the back end, will be the
square part of the sponge. You should try to give it as much shape as you can, and because
the sponge is thick, you have to be careful to make sure, you're cutting both the top,
and the bottom of the sponge, and all pieces in between, so it gives as much of a flat
edge as possible. I'm just going to trim around, once we take off pieces, make sure that they're
nice and straight, the edges are nice and straight, and now we have the base of our
boat, and this will give us a nice shape, and we're going to be putting the second sponge,
once we cut it, will lay flat on top of this layer.
