We are approaching the end of 2013. This takes us another step closer
to the European Elections
and the Committee of the Regions 20th anniversary
During a special Group meeting in Brussels on 10 December
the EPP Group in the Committee of the Regions will take stock
of the Europe 2020 Strategy and debate
the future of Europe
CoR President, Ramon Luis Valcárcel Siso will outline his ideas for the rest of his
Presidency
before taking a look at the achievements
and future role of the Committee of the Regions
This will also be an opportunity to look ahead to the 2014
Athens Summit of regions and cities
With Christmas almost in their sights
EPP members will attend the following regular meetings:
ENVE will discuss the climate and energy goals for 2030 on 5 December
On the 11, ECOS will examine the social dimension of the Economic and Monetary Union
The next day, NAT will meet with a focus on health inequalities
and the EU's strategy for forests
And COTER will meet with their counterparts in the European Parliament's REGI Committee
on the 17th
Together, they will work on the implementation of the new cohesion policy
Then, to conclude the year, Michael Schneider will welcome EPP Group members
to Berlin on 18 December. They will debate Subsidiarity
This principle ensures that decisions are taken as closely as possible to the Citizen
and more specifically, it rules out EU action when an issue can be better dealt with
at national, regional or local level
The conference is an opportunity to share experiences
and work together for better coordination in the future
