Our Learning Center [now Academic Support Centre] supports the academic needs of all learners,
including those with disabilities.
The services which are available to all learners include
peer and professional tutoring and study skills.
Our study skills program includes a comprehensive seminar series covering
topics such as studying for tests and exams,
note taking, textbook reading, and essay writing just to name a few.
All of our study skills handouts
are available on the Learning Centre website.
The Learning Center is also the area where students with disabilities
come to get services put in place. Students are encouraged to contact the Learning Center
as early as possible in order to ensure that services are put in place
for the start of their classes. The Learning Center does require
documentation in order to put services in place, but we're happy
to work with students to help them acquire the documentation they may need .
Students who suspect they have a disability that is affecting their learning,
are invited to visit the Learning Center to explore having an assessment done.
Staff will then communicate with your faculty
the accommodations which you are eligible for.
Our staff are excellent to work with and they value the unique learning needs of all of our students.
Their strength is in helping our students to realize their potential
and providing them with the tools that they need to be successful.
