[Background Music]
[Male student] The 2 or 3 years that you spend here, really are,
you know, sort of, the best years of your life
[Kathryn Rudd] They come here and it opens up a new world to them,in terms of
developing friendships, developing those skills which they can use to actually
move on from College.
[Female student] It's given me life-long friends,
its given me skills that I never thought I would be able to gain
I never thought I would be able to take a GCSE
[Helen Sexton] Although there is magnificent work in this College,
a lot of joy, a lot of joy and a lot of achievement.
We can't carry on unless we really improve what we have
and the Star Appeal is a very important part of that.
[Background music]
[Peter Cottingham] The Star Appeal, will raise over £15 million
and will dramatically improve the lives of young people with disabilities.
It's partly bringing the College up to standard
with the facilities thats they need
It's partly expanding those facilities
and giving them greater opportunity
[Background music]
The space that people need,
The care that people need,
The education that people need, and deserve,
is changing and becoming more demanding
[Background music]
[Helen Sexton] The young people we work with have so much spirit
about wanting to have a good life
[Pause]
and they just need someone to believe in them, and invest in them
[Background music]
[Male student] It's amazing how much of a difference you can actually make
just to create more opportunities
for people in everyday lives
[Background music]
[Peter Cottingham] We need to build extensively
we've got the site,
We've got the will,
We've got the consent,
And all we need now is about £15.5 million to do it!
[Pause]
We will provide the best learning and care resources,
improved modern facilities and accommodation for students,
better arts, better sports,
and better recreation facilities.
[Male student] I was given an opportunity to live a life,
so fullfilling.
I would encourage people to fund this place so that they can just do more.
[Background music]
[Peter Cottingham] So, if you've got £5 to spare,
£50, or £50,000,
if you could give that to the Star Appeal, you'll be making a huge difference
to the lives of severly disabled young people
